COVID-19 in Collier County: State reports 81 new cases, no additional deaths

The Florida Department of Health reported 81 new cases of COVID-19 and no additional deaths in Collier County on Monday.  

State health officials did not update the daily COVID-19 data until after 4:30 p.m., more than five hours past the stated approximate time the numbers are supposed to be posted for the public. The Department of Health did not give a reason for Monday's delay.

Collier's cumulative total of 16,019 cases is 11th highest among Florida counties. The seven-day average for cases was 93 through Monday, 232% higher than the average on Oct. 1 (28).

Collier County's cumulative total of COVID-19 fatalities remained at 267, 17th highest among Florida counties.

Collier's seven-day average for reported COVID-19 tests was 923 through Sunday, 322 more per day than the seven-day average on Oct. 1 (601) but 60% fewer than the county's peak average on July 17 (1,474). 

Collier's seven-day average positivity rate was 10.93% through Sunday, 6.1 percentage points higher than the same average on Oct. 1 (4.83%).

A total of 1,063 people in Collier County have been hospitalized for COVID-19 as of Monday, according to the report, but that number does not reflect the people currently in the hospital, according to the Florida Department of Health. 

As of approximately 11 a.m. Monday, there were 64 COVID-19 patients in Collier County hospitals, according to data from Florida's Agency for Healthcare Administration.  The county also had 16.5% of its total hospital beds available and 30.6% of its adult ICU beds available, according to the AHCA. Florida's available percentages were 26% (hospital beds) and 25.8% (ICU beds), respectively. The AHCA also reported a total of 3,243 COVID-patients statewide as of 11 a.m. Monday.

The Florida Department of Health is not reporting how many people have recovered from COVID-19.
