Naples motorcyclist killed in fatal Sunday morning crash on Tamiami Trail at Naples Manor

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Tamiami Trail at Broward Street near Naples Manor that claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

The crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.

A Florida Highway Patrol report said an SUV driven by a 17-year-old Naples male was southbound in the left turn lane of south Tamami Trail and had a solid green traffic signal at the intersection of Broward Street.

The 60-year-old motorcyclist from Naples was northbound in the center lane of 41, approaching a green solid traffic signal at the same intersection.

The FHP said the SUV's driver made a left turn in front of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle hit the side of the SUV, throwing the motorcyclist off the bike. The Naples man, who was not wearing a helmet, the FHP said, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV and a 16-year-old male passenger were not hurt.
