The Florida Department of Health reported 81 new cases of COVID-19 in Collier County Wednesday, bringing the county's overall case count to 3,456. The state also verified two additional COVID-19 related deaths in the county, increasing the total number of fatalities to 67.

The two Collier residents who died were a 69-year-old man who had contact with a confirmed positive case and had his case counted by the state on May 1 and a 74-year-old woman who had contact with a confirmed case and had her case counted on May 21.

According to the state, Collier has recorded a total of 1,917 cases so far in June with an overall positivity rate of 14.3%. In May, Collier had 943 cases reported for the month with a positivity rate of 8.37%.

The department confirmed Collier's first three cases of the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, March 11. Since then, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Collier has increased to 3,456.

A total of 299 people in Collier County have been hospitalized for COVID-19 as of Wednesday, according to the report, but that number does not reflect the people currently in the hospital, according to the Florida Department of Health. 

As of approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Collier County had 18.1% of its total hospital beds available and 37% of its adult ICU beds available, according to Florida's Agency for Heathcare Administration. The state's available percentages were 23.3% (hospital beds) and 19.2% (ICU beds), respectively.

The Florida Department of Health is not reporting how many people have recovered from COVID-19.
