The Florida Department of Health reported 75 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death in Collier County on Monday.

That brings Collier's cumulative case total to 8,870 and its total COVID-19 related deaths to 118.

The Collier resident death verified by the state on Monday was described as:

  • A 67-year-old woman who had contact with a known case and whose positive case was counted by the state on June 2.

Monday marked the second consecutive day Collier recorded less than 100 new COVID-19 cases, the first time that has happened since June 29-30. The county's overall positivity rate still increased slightly, however, to 15.85%, the highest its been since March 20 when it was 19.53% and the county had 25 cases. Florida's overall positivity rate is 12.59%.

In the last seven days, the percentage of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Collier County is 13.45%. 

A total of 605 people in Collier County have been hospitalized for COVID-19 as of Monday, according to the report, but that number does not reflect the people currently in the hospital, according to the Florida Department of Health. 

As of approximately 11 a.m. Monday, there were 153 COVID-19 patients being treated in Collier County hospitals, according to data from Florida's Agency for Healthcare Administration. The county also had 21.9% of its total hospital beds available and 35.8% of its adult ICU beds available, according to the AHCA. Florida's available percentages were 24.2% (hospital beds) and 18.6% (ICU beds), respectively.

The Florida Department of Health is not reporting how many people have recovered from COVID-19.
