The Florida Department of Health reported 199 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths in Collier County on Tuesday.

That brings Collier's cumulative case total to 9,069 and its total COVID-19 related deaths to 120.

The Collier resident deaths verified by the state on Tuesday were described as:

  • An 82-year-old woman who had contact with a known case and whose positive case was counted by the state on July 22.
  • A 61-year-old woman (Case counted July 27).

The county's overall positivity rate increased slightly Tuesday to 15.94%, the highest its been since March 20 when it was 19.53% and the county had 25 cases. Florida's overall positivity rate is 12.68%.

In the last seven days, the percentage of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Collier County is 13.5%. 

A total of 621 people in Collier County have been hospitalized for COVID-19 as of Tuesday, according to the report, but that number does not reflect the people currently in the hospital, according to the Florida Department of Health. 

As of approximately 11 a.m. Tuesday, there were 154 COVID-19 patients being treated in Collier County hospitals, according to data from Florida's Agency for Healthcare Administration. That's an increase of one patient since approximately the same time Monday. The county also had 19.6% of its total hospital beds available and 30.9% of its adult ICU beds available, according to the AHCA. Florida's available percentages were 21.9% (hospital beds) and 15.9% (ICU beds), respectively.

The Florida Department of Health is not reporting how many people have recovered from COVID-19.
