Palm Bay man shook child during dispute, fled with weapons, Naples police say

Naples police arrested a  Palm Bay man after a domestic disturbance call early Friday in which a complainant said he shook a child before throwing an object, which hit the child. Police then found weapons, at least one of which was reported stolen, Naples police said in a release Friday, Nov. 11, 2022.

A domestic dispute Friday in Naples that included shaking child then hitting them with a thrown object led to the arrest of a man on multiple charges.

Around 12:40 a.m. Friday, Naples police officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of Riverpoint Drive.

When they arrived, officers spoke with the victim, who said Demarques Samuel Gamble, 28, of Palm Bay, and she engaged in a physical altercation.

The victim said a child was also present.

Officers learned Gamble shook and jerked the child. When she attempted to intervene, Gamble allegedly threw an object, striking the child.

The child ran and hid while Gamble ransacked the apartment.

After pushing Gamble from the apartment, the complainant said Gamble reentered the home.

Gamble pushed her to the ground before leaving the residence again, this time carrying firearms, police said.

Officers located Gamble nearby and arrested him.

Authorities  searched his vehicle and found several handguns, rifles, shotguns, and ammunition.

They determined he stole one of the firearms from another jurisdiction outside of Florida, the arrest report indicated.

Officers took Gamble to the Collier County jail and charged him with domestic battery and child abuse.

Jail records weren't immediately available Friday before publication. The report didn't indicate if he would face charges related to the firearms.
