Collier County commissioners took the next step to reconsider the board's previous direction on how to deal with short-term vacation rentals.

Commissioners on Tuesday voted 4-1 to bring the issue back at their May 28 meeting.

The move comes after commissioners last month asked county staff to crack down on vacation home rentals, a decision that stirred opposition from some in the vacation home rental industry, Realtors and property rights advocates.

Commissioner Penny Taylor cast the lone dissenting vote Tuesday. She said earlier this month she couldn't support the reconsideration.
