Bigger and brighter than a typical full moon, the term “supermoon” was coined in 1979 by astrologer Richard Nolle. According to NASA, it's used by the media today to describe what astronomers would call a perigean full moon: a full moon occurring near or at the time when the moon is at its closest point in its orbit around Earth.

A supermoon can appear as much as 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than when a full moon is at its farthest distance from Earth, NASA said.

The exact moment of the full moon is the morning of Dec. 3 at 10:46 a.m. ET, (9:46 a.m. CT, 8:46 a.m. MT, and 6:46 a.m. PT), Space.com said.

2. JW Marriott appoints new general manager

The JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort has appointed Sharon Lockwood as its new general manager. A 35-year Marriott veteran, Lockwood will be taking over the role for Rick Medwedeff, who has been appointed as the general manager for the all new Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, Colo. Medwedeff spent the last 12 years with the property.

“While it is certainly bittersweet to be leaving after 12 years with this beautiful property, I know the resort will be in excellent hands under (Lockwood's) leadership,” Medwedeff said.

Most recently, Lockwood was the operational leader of the Gaylord National Resort just outside of Washington, D.C. She has previously held general manager roles at several hotels including the Key Bridge Marriott and Crystal Gateway Marriott, both located in Arlington, Va., and the Renaissance Washington, D.C. Downtown Hotel.

3. NeNe’s on Marco Island adds second location in Naples

A new breakfast-lunch restaurant is continuing a more than 30-year string of eateries at a location on Pine Ridge Road near U.S. 41 in North Naples.

After a couple of chains (Long John Silver’s seafood and Kenny Rogers Roasters chicken concepts), a trio of Italian ristorantes (Chianti's, Tre Amici and Tre Fratelli’s) and a more than seven-year run by the Loving Hut vegan franchise, a café that has found success on Marco Island is moving in.

“I have a lot of people that come to Marco and asking, ‘When you coming to Naples?’ So, here we are,” owner Bob Natale said.

Natale, originally from Chicago, took over ownership of the former Taste of Chicago spot on Marco in 2005 and has found success during the last decade with NeNe’s, a family business named after a nickname for the owner’s Italian grandmother.

NeNe’s Kitchen is set to open this morning.

The second location of NeNe's Kitchen opens Dec. 1 on Pine Ridge Road near U.S. 41 in North Naples.
