Southwest Floridians are no strangers to HGTV fame and glory.

For the past several years, families in Naples and Marco Island have found their dream home on the network's popular series "House Hunters." Naples broker Heather Caine, owner of Caine Premier Properties, who's appeared in several "House Hunters" episodes, has helped local families and transplants decide what house is right for their lifestyle and budget.

Next year, a local family could be featured on HGTV's reboot of the popular series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," which originally ran on ABC from 2003 to 2012. In the original series, TV host Ty Pennington spearheaded the house renovations for families across America. HGTV has yet to announce a host and cast for the reboot.

The 10-episode series premieres in 2020. But before then, the home improvement network is hosting a nationwide casting call, which was announced Monday, in search of deserving families who need help turning their house into a home.

According to HGTV, casting is looking for families who have uplifting, inspirational stories, give back to their communities, and may not have the money or time for necessary house repairs. Unlike the original series, the reboot is expanding beyond current homeowners to include renters and people wanting to relocate.

Casting call open to families nationwide
