Cancer Society makes plans for gala Imagination Ball benefit

Special to the Sun Times

The 2015 American Cancer Society’s Imagination Ball, Marco Island’s prestigious gala event, will be Feb. 28 at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort.

“We are pleased to announce that BMO Harris Bank is returning for the second year as the event’s presenting sponsor,” said Heidi Berge, media chair.

“The Imagination Ball is a wonderful event and BMO Harris is very pleased to continue our support for it,” said Monica Christopher, community affairs manager, BMO Financial Group. “We are sincerely dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others and our partnership with the American Cancer Society is just one of the ways we are impacting our community.”

The proceeds from the Imagination Ball will again fund cancer research, programs and services with a portion benefiting pediatric cancer.

Dick and Debra Shanahan will chair the gala for the third year.

“Debra and I are thrilled to be back again with our awesome committee and look forward to a spectacular evening,” said Dick Shanahan.

“This year’s theme, ‘Break Through ... Find a Cure’ promises to offer a wintery atmosphere with a ballroom designed to stage a temporary escape from the tropics,” added Debra Shanahan.

The evening’s festivities include a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing to the music of the Stacey Allison Band, and silent and live auctions. Long time ACS supporters Bill and Doreen Dean will be presented with the Grado Award in honor of their many years of leadership and service to the organization.

In addition to BMO Harris Bank, Imagination Ball sponsors include Bill and Karen Young, Corrie Grado, Condee Cooling and Electric Inc., Marco Island Shell Station, John R. Wood Properties, Tom Cretella and Rose Marina.
