» Monday night bingo at the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island continues through May 6. Doors open 5:30 p.m., Bonanza posted at 6:15 p.m., game is called at 7 p.m. Each Monday, a drawing will be held for a free haircut, shampoo and blow dry or manicure by JUMP Hair and Nails. » “Yuletide Shakespeare” Celebrate the Christmas season with students from the Marco Island Academy who will conclude their acting workshop with The Marco Island Shakespeare Festival by performing some of Shakespeare’s most renowned plays. “Yuletide Shakespeare” is on stage Saturday, Dec. 20, at The Marco Players Theater, located in the Marco Town Center Mall, 1089 N. Collier Blvd., No. 432.

Coming events

» Swamp walks begin in Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park. In addition to its five-hour biologist-led swamp walk, the group is again offering the 3 1/2-hour tram tour and swamp walk. Both adventures take visitors into the heart of the Fakahatchee Strand, home to more orchid species than any other place on the North American continent. The preserve is a haven for diverse wildlife and migratory birds. The Tram Tour and Swamp Walk begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes by 1 p.m. It begins with a ride on the group’s Ghost Rider tram to the site of the swamp walk. After about 90 minutes of walking through the swamp, participants board the tram for the return trip. The tour and walk is offered Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015. Go to fofreservation.eventbrite.com.
