Speakeasy was handed the team's first defeat of the season by Stonewalls in an extra-inning affair, but remained in first place in the Marco Division. DaVinci's took over first place in the Island Division with a win over Sand Bar, previously in first.

Island Division

Brewery 19 Nacho Mama's 14

The Brewery overcame a 14-11 deficit scoring eight runs in the top of the ninth. Jack O'Brien, John Remhoff, Phil Holmes, and Chuck Reich nailed three hits. O'Brien racked up four RBI, Holmes three; Mike Endelman, Steve Hummel, Nick Jacullo and Jim Dorey had two. Jon Wiseman peppered out four hits, while Jim Gilligan and Rick Benedetti had three for Nacho's. John Barrett, Jeff Hultgren and Tom Tankersley drove in two runs in the loss.

DaVinci's 16 Sand Bar 15

Murph Knapke hoisted a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth driving in the winning run for DaVinci's after Sand Bar had taken the lead in the top of the ninth, 15-13. Craig Cunningham tagged the ball for four hits; Bill Wright, Jim Williams, and Grady Fuller had three for DaVinci's, with one of Williams being a triple. Knapke and Bill Thompson drove in three runs with Fuller two. Sand Bar's Jim George laced three hits, while Frank Benedetti thumped a two run home run; teammates Tom Bishard and Ralph Sieja cracked a triple. Sieja ended the game with three RBI; Bishard, Benedetti and Jim Green two.

Porky's 15 Mutual of Omaha Bank 11

Porky's rallied from being down 7-1, scoring five runs in the ninth for the win. Rich Krumholz, John Haskins and Jim Ramage each had four hits, with Jimmy Cuevas and Jim Vitas having three for Porky's. Tom Tankersley cranked a home run and Krumholz a triple. Tankersley and Vitas drove home three runs, Haskins and Dan Moriarty drove in two. The Bank's Ed Kingsbury and Art Sinisi crushed a triple with both along with Bob Williams having two RBI.

Nacho Mama's 11 Mutual of Omaha Bank 10

Nacho pushed a run across in the bottom of the ninth for the team's first win of the season. Tom Gazzillo and John Gross drilled three hits in the win, with Gross driving home three runs, Gazzillo and Jack Martin two runs. Jim Gilligan got a triple for Nacho's. Ed Brack had three hits for the Bank, with Ed Kingsbury clubbing a three run homer. Jerry Engel drove in three runs and John DeRosa two in the loss.

Sand Bar 13 Brewery 8

Ralph Sieja's bat remained hot for Sand Bar with three hits in the game, one being a triple. Winning pitcher Jim George also launched a triple and had two RBI, as did Dave Banghart, Tom Bishard, Dan Dumbauld, and Sieja. Nick Jacullo ripped a triple as part of his three hits for the Brewery with Jack O'Brien also having three hits; Jack O'Brien and Phil Holmes drove in two runs.

DaVinci's 18 Porky's 10

Jim Williams had a big day at the plate ripping the ball for four hits giving him four RBI in DaVinci's win. Grady Fuller, Murph Knapke and Bill Shurina contributed three hits as part of DaVinci's twenty-six hit barrage. Tom McCullough crushed a triple and had three RBI, Fuller and Knapke had two. Porky's Jack Mateja, Tom Tankersley and Bob Grant had two RBI in the game

Porky's 23 Sand Bar 9

Joe Cervelli pounded five hits for Porky's; Dan Moriarty had four, with Rich Krumholz and Jim Cuevas having three. Cuevas and Tom Pugh smacked a home run. Moriarty and Jack Mateja tallied up four RBI; Cervelli and Pugh had three, Cuevas and Mike Hopkins two. Sand Bar had Jim George, Tom Bishard and Dan Dumbauld, who had three hits in the game, wallop a home run, with Frank Benedetti mashing a triple. Ray Kane drove in three runs and Dan Dumbauld two.

Brewery 16 Mutual of Omaha Bank 13

The Brewery held off a ninth inning rally by the Bank for the team's third consecutive win. John Remhoff and Steve Hummel ripped three hits for the Brewery. Remhoff, and Nick Jacullo clocked a home run, Hummel and Gary Revall hit a triple. Jacullo recorded four RBI, Hummel three, Revall and Jack O'Brien two. Herman Griffith had three hits for the Bank. Ed Brack and Ed Kingsbury and launched a home run with Mike Puskar nailing a triple. Steve Clark had three RBI and Kingsbury two for the Bank.

DaVinci's 32 Nacho Mama's 24

In an ugly game with wind playeing havoc with the ball, DaVinci's won coming back from an 11-2 deficit - scoring a record 15 runs in the third inning. Both teams issued nine walks due the windy conditions. Bill Thompson and Grady Fuller thump the ball for four hits for DaVinci's with Tom McCullough and Mike Schwab having three. Teammates Craig Cunningham and Paul Shelton hoisted a homerun with Shelton, Fuller and Jim Vitas crushing a triple. Shelton and McCullough had five RBI; Thompson, Fuller and Schwab three, while Cunningham, Vitas and Jerry Cnudde had two. John Gross and Jack Martin tagged four hits for Nacho's with Jon Wiseman having three. Wiseman powered a home run and had a triple along with Jim Blankenship. Martin amassed six RBI, Wiseman four, Blankenship and Jeff Hultgren three and George Schnorr two.

Marco Division

Joey's Pizza 13 Rookies 12

Joey's scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh for a come from behind victory. Fuzz Fazekas mashed a bases loaded triple to tie the game with Dick Corley driving in the winning run. Teammate Fred Kramer delivered three hits including a home run giving him and Tony Brock who had two hits, two RBI in the game. Rookies Ralph Leiterding and Dan O'Sullivan pummeled the ball for three hits, with Joe Callahan, John Hollerbach having two. Leiterding and Hollerbach walloped a home with Hollerbach also getting a triple. Leiterding tallied four RBI, Hollerbach and O'Sullivan had three RBI.

Crazy Flamingo's 9 CJ's on the Bay 4

Flamingo's scored five runs in the first on its way to the win. Dom Fiorda sprayed three hits, Jerry Kratz, Tom Grucci, and Chuck Wilson having two. Grucci and Ray Niemeyer chase home three runs apiece. CJ's Mike Galatis, Jim O'Meara, and Dick DeAnna had two hits, with Galatis and Paul Womack cracking a triple.

Stonewalls 15 Mango's 12

Gary Zentner, Gary Schneider, Roger Wise and Chet Dal Bianco slashed three hits, with Tom Purtell and John Robichard having two leading Stonewalls to a come from behind win. Dal Bianco who bashed a home run had four RBI, Schneider three; Don Rooksberry, and Randy Wesoloski two. Jack Stevenson and Bill Dauch had two hits for Mango's, with Jim White driving in three runs; Ed Dreyfus and Jan Grossman two.

Stonewalls 18 Crazy Flamingo's 7

Tom Purtell, Gary Zentner, Mike Walsh, Dan Cody, and George Kirk lined two hits in Stonewalls third consecutive win. Zentner and Gary Schneider delivered a triple giving Zentner as well as Dan Cody three RBI, with Schneider and Bob Smith two. Flamingo's Ray Zielinski, George Lancaster, Tom Grucci, and Tom Patterson stroked two hits. One of Zielinski hits was a home run giving him, Lancaster and Grucci two RBIs.

Speakeasy 26 Mango's 20

In a game which each team kept rallying Speakeasy's record remained perfect at 6-0 at the end. Seven players for Speakeasy had two hits; Mike Arnold, Bob Levasseur, Chet Dal Bianco, Leon Schmitt, Al Cenicola, Ron Irwin, and Joe Barry, with Randy Wesolowski drilling three one a triple. Don Rooksberry had two RBI. Warren Uhl and Fran Diotte clobbered grand slam homeruns for Mango's. Uhl ended the day racking up seven RBI, Diotte four, and Jim White who had two hits two RBI. Jack Stevenson zinged three hits.

CJ's on the Bay 22 Joey's Pizza 14

CJ's pummeled Joey's behind a twenty-seven hit barrage. Fran Roche banged out four hits; Paul Womack, Roger Fleming, Pat Coraggio, Dick DeAnna, and Jim Battye had three, while Mike Galatis, Jim O'Meara, and Bob Smith had two for CJ's. Galatis accounted for four RBI; O'Meara and DeAnna three, while Womack, Roche, and Fleming had two. Fred Kramer continued his torrid hitting with three hits including a three run home run giving him five RBI for Joey's. Teammate Tony Brock launched a grand slam home run and had five RBI. Paul Burnett and Bob Monaco had two hits with Monaco driving in three runs in the loss.

Crazy Flamingo's 19 Rookies 15

Ray Niemeyer banged out three hits, while Joe Furst, Jerry Kratz, Tom Grucci, Tom Paterson, Chuck Wilson, Fran Dooley, and Buff Morris had two for the Crazy bird. Grucci had three RBI. Ralph Leiterding and Dan O'Sullivan rapped out three hits for Rookies, with Jerry Lenhoff, John Hollerbach, Angelo Polizzi, and John Hedges having two, Lenhoff who hoist a home run had three RBI as did O'Sullivan.

CJ's on the Bay 18 Mango's 13

Roger Fleming blistered the ball for four hits; Pat Coraggio, Don Schwarz and Jim O'Meara three, with Fran Roche and Butch Monson two for CJ's. Mike Galatis delivered a home run giving him four RBI while Coraggio had three and Paul Womack two in the win. Mango's Joe Kruse, Jim Battye and Jim White had two hits with one of White's being a triple. White ended up with three RBI, Fran Diotte and Warren Uhl two.

Stonewalls 24 Speakeasy 23

In a game plagued by thirty walks and 20 errors, Stonewalls won handing Speakeasy the team's first defeat of the season in extra innings. John Luegering lined three hits in the win with Mike Walsh and John Robichard having two. Luegering racked up four RBI, Gary Zentner and Bob Smith had three. Mike Arnold slashed three hits, with Ed Kopecky, Bob Levasseur and Randy Wesolowski, Ron Irwin and Don Rooksberry having two. Rooksberry smacked a home run and drove in four runs; Chet Dal Bianco and Randy Wesolowski three runs, Ed Kopecky and Leon Schmitt had two runs.
