Mom: Here's how I lost 50 pounds and got my body back after having 2 kids
Megan Galata, mom of two, says a meal calendar, nearby gym and soccer league helped her drop 50 pounds.
A mom who has lost nearly 50 pounds since her last pregnancy says time management helped her shed the pounds.
Megan Galata, sales strategy manager with the USA TODAY Network and mom to 3-year-old Olivia and 7-month-old Sebastian, weighed up to 185 pounds during pregnancy. Thanks to meal planning and making time for fitness and mental health, she says she's back to her pre-baby weight of 136 pounds.
Here's how she did it (and how she continues to stay healthy):
1. Create (and stick to) a meal calendar. Galata plans out dinners for each month, prepping ingredients ahead of time and shares cooking responsibilities with her husband. This way, she avoids fast food and stays in control of her diet.
2. Take advantage of fitness perks. Galata works in a building with an on-site gym. She's joined fitness classes there, and makes them a priority. Coworkers also help keep her accountable.
3. Make me time. Galata was a part of a soccer league before having children, and she's continued to participate once a week as a mom. It's time just for her. It's good for her mental health, and it's a great workout.
