Car slams into tow truck making U-turn on Interstate 75, killing West Park man

A car slammed into a loaded tow truck as it made a U-turn on the interstate Monday night, killing one and seriously injuring two others.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 31-year-old Lauderhill man had stopped on Interstate 75 near Mile Marker 87 in Collier County to load a disabled work van in the eastbound lanes. He was facing west.
After loading the van, he attempted to turn around on Alligator Alley, leaving from the south paved shoulder about 9:40 p.m.

A car driven by a 31-year-old West Park man was heading east when it hit the back of the tow truck, killing a passenger, a 30-year-old West Park man.
The car driver suffered serious injuries, as did a passenger in the tow truck, a 32-year-old Lauderhill woman.
The tow truck and the car came to a rest in the median, while the van was thrown into the interstate.
