Marco Divison to be decided Thursday
- Possible "Crazy" end to tournament
With one game left in the regular season in the Marco Division between Crazy Flamingo's and Joey's Pizza; Flamingo's will determine if they are the Marco Divisional Champion or lose in a tie breaker to CJ's on the Bay and end up in third place.
The game is being played on Thursday morning March 12th at 9:30 AM.
A loss by Crazy Flamingo's would put them in a three way tie with CJ's on the Bay and Mango's. CJ's would be declared the Marco Divisional Champion based on head to head wins versus Flamingo's, and having a running scoring differential versus Mango's, since both teams won two games each. Mango's has the head to head differential versus Crazy Flamingo.

Sand Bar 16 Porky's 11
Rick Benedetti and Ralph Sieja drilled four hits as part of Sand Bar's 30 hit-attack, with Tom Buettner, Tom Bishard and Ray Kane having three, one of Buettner's being a triple. Buettner and Bishard drove in four runs, Kane three, and John Remhoff two. Porky's Tom Pugh peppered four hits while Rich Krumholz and Joe Cervelli had three. Jim Ramage had four RBI for Porky's and John Haskins two.
Brewery 18 Mutual of Omaha Bank 10
The Brewery hammered the ball for three homeruns, one each by Chris Flynn, Jim Dorey and topped with a grand slam by Mike Edelman, Team members Gary Revall, Nick Jacullo, and Tom Tankersley had three hits. Besides Edelman's four RBI, Jacullo recorded three; Flynn, Jack O'Brien and Bill Kayhart two. Bob Williams and Art Sinisi had three hits for the Bank with Herman Griffith and Sinisi clouting a home run. Griffith had three RBI and John DeRosa two.
DaVinci's 19 Nacho Mama's 17
Bill Wright, Bill Thompson and Jim Williams lashed four hits for DaVinci's, while Murph Knapke and Bill Shurina had three. DaVinci's slammed three homeruns, with a grand slam by Knapke, a three run shot by Grady Fuller and a two run homer by Thompson. Thompson accumulated six RBI, Knapke four, Williams and Fuller three. Jack Martin smashed a triple for Nacho's and drove in three runs; Jim Gilligan, John Barrett, and Jeff Hultgren had two.
Brewery 11 Sand Bar 9
Steve Hummel and Art Sinisi had three hits to pace the Brewery, with Jack O'Brien driving in three runs, Sinisi and Nick Jacullo two. Dave Banghart and Ray Kane had three hits for Sand Bar. Banghart and Tom Bishard had three RBI, Bishard's being a three-run homerun.
Porky's 22 DaVinci's 15
Porky's bats were smoking hot, lashing out 31 hits. John Haskins, Rich Krumholz, Tom Pugh and Jack Mateja ripped four apiece; Jim Ramage and Larry Wildes had three. One of Ramage's hits was a towering grand slam homerun giving him six RBI in the game, Tom Pugh had four, Krumholz three. Craig Cunningham swatted the ball for four hits, Jim Williams and Bill Shurina had three for DaVinci's. Jim Vitas and Cunningham smacked a triple, giving Cunningham six RBI; while Vitas, Grady Fuller and Jerry Cnudde had two.
Nacho Mama's 18 Mutual of Omaha Bank 15
Nacho Mama's had to rally from an eight run deficit to earn the win. Jim Gilligan and John Barrett blistered four hits, with Tom Gazzillo and Pete Oellrich having three. Gilligan chased in four runs; Gazzillo, Barrett, Dave Droddy, and Jeff Hultgren two. Butch Coursen stroked four hits for the Bank and Bob Williams had three. Ed Brack who crushed a triple had three RBI as did Ed Kingsbury, Herman Griffith - and Charlie Lamb had two.
Speakeasy 21 Mango's 14
Bob Levasseur, Chet Dal Bianco, Joe Barry, Ron Irwin and Ed Kopecky ripped three hits each for Speakeasy, with Ron Townsend, Al Cenicola, and Leon Schmitt having two; one of Schmitt's being a three run homer. Dal Bianco, Schmitt and Ron Townsend had four RBI and Kopecky three. Mango's Dan Stanard and Ed Dreyfus lined three hits, Warren Uhl, Jan Grossman, and Jack Stevenson had two. Uhl and Dreyfus pummeled a homerun in the loss. Stanard chased in runs, Stevenson three, Uhl and Dreyfus two.
Crazy Flamingo's 14 Stonewalls 4
Flamingo's Joe Furst, George Lancaster, Tom Grucci, and Chuck Wilson nailed three hits each with Lancaster having launched two solo homeruns. Furst, Lancaster, Bill Diamond and Frank Dooley had two RBI. Tom Purtell and John Luegering had two hits for Stonewalls, with John Woods having a two run homerun.
Joey's Pizza 10 CJ's on the Bay 5
Joey's scored five runs in the fifth inning leading to the win after CJ's had tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth. Denny Davis, Bob Monaco, Tony Brock and Bill Moors had two hits for Joey's. Davis had three RBI and Tom Loiacono two in the win. CJ's Mike Galatis, Roger Fleming, and Don Schwartz had two hits; one of Fleming's being a two run homerun giving him three RBI in the game.
Crazy Flamingo's 18 Rookies 3
The game based on the mercy rule after six innings, giving Flamingo's control of first place in the Marco Division. Flamingo's Joe Furst, Ray Zielinski, George Lancaster, Ray Niemeyer and Chuck Wilson all had two hits. Zielinski drove in three runs; Lancaster, Wilson, Dom Fiorda, Tom Grucci, and Bill Diamond two. John Gill and Rich Chimera had two hits for Rookies.
CJ's on the Bay 19 Mango's 9
CJ's hammered Mango's with 28 hits, with Paul Womack, Fran Roche, Mike Galatis, Roger Fleming, Alan Schneider, and Dick DeAnna nailing three hits; Butch Monson, Jim O'Meara, and Gary Badger two, with Womack and Fleming pounding a triple. Womack accounted for five RBI, Roche three; Galatis, Fleming, Monson, and Badger two. Joe Kruse peppered the ball for three hits including a homerun, while Dan Stanard and Jan Grossman had two hits with Stanard driving in three runs in the loss.
Stonewalls 18 Speakeasy 3
Dan Cody pitched a six hitter as Stonewalls ended the game in six innings with the mercy rule. Mike Walsh laced three hits; Tom Purtell, John Luegering and John Wood for Stonewalls who made the most of ten walks issued by Speakeasy. Walsh had three RBI and Dave Coward two.
Mango's 21 Joey's Pizza 16
Jim Bauman zapped four hits for Mango's, Dan Stanard and Warren Uhl had three; Joe Kruse, Jim Yount, Jim Battye, Jim White, Ed Dreyfus, Jan Grossman, and Bob Beaver two as part of Mango's 24-hit attack. Kruse walloped a homerun; Stanard, Uhl and Beaver mashed a triple. Beaver recorded three RBI; Bauman, Kruse, Yount, Battye, Uhl and White two. Tony Brock scorched four hits for Joey's, Fred Kramer and Denny Davis three, Bob Monaco and Dick Corley two; one of Monaco's was a homerun. Corley had three runs driven and Davis two.
CJ's on the Bay 15 Stonewalls 10
CJ's rallied after trailing 4-8 after three innings. Fran Roche and Mike Galatis socked three hits each, with one of Roche's being a homerun for CJ's. Don Schwartz and Dick DeAnna had two. Roche racked up five RBI and DeAnna two. John Luegering and Roger Wise had two hits for Stonewalls with John Wood hammering a two run homerun. Dave Coward chased in three runs and Luegering two in the loss.
Speakeasy 17 Rookies 12
Mike Arnold, Chet Dal Bianco, and Randy Wesolowski nailed three hits each for Speakeasy, Bob Levasseur and Ron Irwin had two. Arnold clouted two homeruns with Wesolowski cranking a triple. Wesolowski tallied five RBI, Arnold four; Ed Kopecky and Leon Schmitt two. Rookies John Hollerbach, John Gill, John Hedges and Angelo Polizzi had two hits with Hollerbach mashing a triple. Hollerbach drove in four runs, Hedges and Polizzi two.
