It's always a good sign when a team bounces back and defeats a team that beat them earlier in the season. That's exactly what happened Monday night when the Marco Island Academy volleyball team defeated Everglades City in four sets on senior night at the academy's gym.

Marco Island Academy sophomore Chelsea Casabona is excited after the Rays close out Everglades City.

"I'm really happy," said academy coach Kelly Monnot. "The first time we played them we went out and lost in four sets. Then we came back to win it tonight. It's really great to see the improvement over the course of the season."

They Rays won 25-12, 27-25, 17-25, 25-18 over the Gators.

The coach was also proud of her lone senior, captain Shannon O'Regan.

Setter Lauren De’Hooghe watches the fruits of her labor after dropping a winning shot over the net.

"I'm really proud of Shannon," Monnot said. "It was her senior night. It was picture perfect almost, the way she closed out the match with an ace serve. I'm just really happy for her and the for the team coming together to support her."
