Not quite the Full Monty, but for serious runners a grueling grind nevertheless – the Marco Island Bridge Run half marathon is set for Sunday, March 20 from the Shops of Marco.
The 12.1-mile run is punctuated by ascent and descent (twice) of the Stan Gober Memorial Goodland Bridge, as well as a snaking 5-mile route through picturesque Key Marco, but for those more inclined to enjoy a less frenetic outing there’s also a 5K run-walk.
There are 11 water stations in the longer race, and two in the 5K. Water, Gatorade and GU will be available. The course is not closed to traffic. Police will be stationed on the course. There is ample parking at the shopping center (Publix) where the race begins. Start and finish is on the side street, Balmoral Ct., next to the Schilling Building near Physicians Regional offices.
