In the opening round of the end of the adult softball season tournament, R.K. Reiman Construction ended the season for Speakeasy with a win of 18 to 7, setting up a showdown against Joey’s. Reiman’s big bats led the way with 5 players all notching home runs. Paul Thomassen had two HR’s along with a double, The other 4 with HR’s were Casey Canady, Max Tyler, Cobi Harbec and Cannon Crews. Ray Neil had a triple, double and single, and Leo Rill added two doubles as well.

Speakeasy was led by Kyle Prevett three singles and Brent Wilson double and single.

The second game of the night had Nacho’ Mama facing off against Kretch’s. Both teams came out swinging, with Kretch’s picking up 6 runs in the first only to have Nachos come right back with 8 of their own. Kretch’s added 4 more runs in the second to take the lead 10 to 9 after two. Nachos answered in the third with3 runs and 2 more in the 4th and after four led the game 14 to 10. Kretch’s got it close in the top half of the 5th adding two, but a big 5 run bottom half of the 5th gave Nachos at 19 to 12 lead.

Kretch’s kept fighting adding 2 in the 6th but could only muster one in the 7th and Nachos sealed the victory 19 to 15 to advance and face off against Island Pizza in this Thursday’s first game at 6:30.

Nacho’s Andrew Border and Kurt Busch each had three hits with Busch hitting a HR, Antony Palermo, Eddie Kirst, Chris Broxson and Garon Skender each chipped in with two hits apiece.

Kretch’s was let by John LaCava’s 3 hits including a HR, and Christian Polanco and Joe Pitrone with 3 hits each. Mike Dechaine , Bruce Kretschmer, Wes Smith and Even Holewinski each had two hits.

Thursday’s second round actions will feature Island Pizza against Nacho Mama’s at 6:30 followed by Joey’s facing off against R.K Reiman. Both games will be played at Winterberry Field, so come on out for some exciting softball.
