On April 8 and 9, the Sailing Association of Marco Island (SAMI) in conjunction with the Marco Island Yacht Club will host the annual “Bud Light Regatta.”
Proceeds from the regatta help support the Civil Air Patrol, the Marco Island Community Sailing Center (MICSC), and the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. The race attracts sailors from all over Southwest Florida, and includes boats of all sizes.
Saturday will feature several short races around buoys and Sunday will have a distance race with a pursuit start.
All sailors are invited and encouraged to join in the fun. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m., April 7, at the pool deck located by the Dockmaster’s office at the Marco Island Yacht Club, with a skipper’s meeting following at 6 p.m.
The races will start at 10 a.m. both days. The courses will be set in front of the Marco Island beach in the vicinity of the J.W. Marriott.
After the racing on Sunday an awards dinner will be held at The Olde Marco Lodge in Goodland at 6 p.m.
