Technology is rapidly changing the way we function in the world, including the way we buy things. Apple Pay, unveiled in 2014, has taken off in the past few years and is now the top mobile payment app in the U.S., according to an eMarketer analysis.

Contactless pay became a consumer favorite during the pandemic with contact related health concerns, giving rise to card readers that accept Apple Pay. Apple announced a new Tap to Pay feature in February 2022 that allows users to make store purchases by tapping another iPhone.
