The next ship to debut at Holland America will spend its first summer cruising in Europe.

Arriving in December, the 2,666-passenger Nieuw Statendam will follow an initial series of winter sailings in the Caribbean with summer voyages to the Norwegian Fjords, Norway's North Cape, the Baltic and Iceland, Holland America revealed Wednesday.

The line said the 99,500-ton Nieuw Statendam would head to northern Europe in April 2019 and home port in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The newly annonced voyages will range from seven to 14 days in length.

Holland America also revealed that Nieuw Statendam would move to the Mediterranean in September 2019. The ship will sail a 12-day cruise from Amsterdam to Civitavecchia, Italy (the port for Rome) before operating three 10-day cruises from Civitavecchia that will explore the eastern and western Mediterranean. Nieuw Statendam then departs Civitavecchia on Oct. 27, 2019 for a 14-day cruise to Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

PREVIEW: Holland America's soon-to-debut Nieuw Statendam

A sister to Holland America's one-year-old Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam will be similar in structure to the earlier ship but feature some new public spaces and its own style created by well-known hospitality designer Adam Tihany and architecture Bjorn Storbraaten, the line has said.

Nieuw Statendam will operate two different seven-day itineraries to Norway out of Amsterdam. A longer, 14-day Norway itinerary will feature eight ports in the country while crossing into the Arctic Circle.

The ship will sail two different Baltic itineraries, both lasting 14 days. The voyages will feature calls at Copenhagen and Aarhus, Denmark; Warnemünde and Kiel, Germany; Tallinn, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; and Stockholm, Sweden.

A single British Isles and Iceland voyage is on the schedule for Aug. 14, 2019. It'll feature calls at Newcastle upon Tyne, England; South Queensferry (near Edinburgh), Scotland; Reykjavik, Isafjordur and Akureyri, Iceland; and Ålesund and Bergen, Norway.

Fares for the Europe sailings start at $1,199 per person, based on double occupancy and not including taxes and port fees.
